I will vote for Senator Hillary Clinton... in the general election, should she be the Democratic candidate, whatever the convoluted electoral process it would take for her to be the nominee.
Now don't get me wrong here. There are a lot more than 27 reasons for democrats to be unhappy with the behavior of Senator Clinton in this campaign. She is not my first choice. In fact, she's my last choice.
But no way am I voting for a Republican, or a Green, or anyone else. And I am not staying home.
We all remember 2000. Al Gore won, but not by enough to keep the corruption at the edges of the process, which is normally drowned in a sea of votes, from anointing our current shame as president.
During the campaign, George W Bush lied. About who he was, his goals, the kind of administration he would lead. Meanwhile, the media painted a narrative that Al Gore was the liar. That he had invented the internet. That his relationship with Tipper was the inspiration for "Love Story". And on and on. The debates he clearly won, against a man who admittedly doesn't have a gift for public speaking, was turned into a story about sighing and makeup.
As a result, some people didn't vote. Some voted for other parties, and some even voted for the "compassionate conservative".
The media likes John McCain, they always have. They do not like Hillary Clinton much, and there's an excellent chance if she's the nominee the aggregate brush used to paint her will be an unfavorable one. If we just sit on the sidelines and watch, we invite a disaster we know all too well. We've been down that road. We know where it leads.
So should Senator Clinton win the nomination, a repugnant outcome to me personally, you can be sure I will fight like hell to get her elected president. Because as much as I resent her for her bad votes and the behavior of her campaign, etc etc, I am not going to run the risk of another four years of Republican rule. Screw that.
